Bike Tour in the Silver Coast of Portugal

/ Discover the portuguese Silver Coast, riding by the Atlantic Ocean, starting in Alcobaça and Óbidos and finishing in Sintra and the oceanic retreat of Cascais. Visit the historical villages and monuments of Óbidos, Sintra and Pena Palace,  considered world heritage sites by UNESCO. Taste the gastronomical delicacies of this region, with the highlight being the fresh fish that is truly wonderful; we should pair it with the region wines and the local monastic pastries and sweets. Relax in the historical Pousadas and charm hotels, while you have the Atlantic Ocean, an historical castle or the Leiria pinewoods as backdrop, exploring the trails that lead you from beach to beach.

In this bike tour you will get to ride from the northern Silver Coast city of Alcobaça, with its iconic Monastery, immerse in the medieval village of Óbidos and make your way towards the south, discovering the piscatorial villages and amazing natural beauty of this coast. Ride by Sintra and visit its UNESCO world heritage sites.

Day 1: Arrival in Lisbon: Transfer to Alcobaça

Pick up at the airport and transfer to Real Abadia Velha, your hotel  in Alcobaça, where you'll find one of the most magnificent gothic monuments in the country, the Alcobaça Monastery. Free day to discover Alcobaça, after private briefing and bike setup.

Day 2: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Sierra de Aire e Candeeiros - Alcobaça - Foz do Arelho - Óbidos 

Start of your bike tour, towards Alacobaça, where you can visit the city center and monastery, before heading to the coast line, by the amazing beaches and bay of São Martinho do Porto and the Óbidos lagoon at Foz do Arelho. Reaching Óbidos, you'll visit the best conserved fortified city in Portugal and one of the 7 wonders of Portugal. Check in at the Pousada de Óbidos historical hotel or Josefa D'Obidos Hotel. Free day to visit Óbidos, nicknamed the “village of queens”.

Day 3: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Óbidos  – Peniche - Vimeiro

Breakfast at the hotel and start of the Silver Coast bike tour, towards the piscatorial village of Peniche. Stop at Baleal, an island curiously attached to the mainland by a narrow piece of land. Ride by the silver coast and its beaches like Santa Catarina, Santa Cruz and São Lourenço, entering the world’s first surf reserve. Check in at Areias do Seixo Eco Resort ( "premium" option) by the beach in Santa Rita and relax at his amazing location, or West Beach Hotel, at Porto novo beach.

Day 4: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Vimeiro - Santa Cruz - Ericeira 

Breakfast at the hotel and start of the Silver Coast bike tour, by the balneary village of Santa Cruz, Praia Azul and many others, as the cliffs and Arribas of the region reveal breathtaking views over the Atlantic ocean. Check in at Hotel Vila Galé Ericeira Hotel, by the beach.

Day 5: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Ericeira – Mafra – Sintra

Breakfast at the hotel. Start of the Silver Coast bike tour, from Ericeira to Mafra, where you can visit the National Palace and Convent, masterpiece of the baroque from the 17^th century. Afterwards, we’ll ride by the ocean, towards Sintra, to the Maçãs beach and climb towards the historical enter, checking in at the Sintra Boutique Hotel  (included in the "premium" option), right in front of the old palace or the Casa do Valle a few meters down the hill.

Day 6: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Sintra - Cascais - Sintra

Breakfast at the hotel. Start of your bike tour, exploring the SIntra natural park, on a ride by Palacio da Pena, Quinta da Regaleira and the best landmarks in the area. Ride towards Cabo da Roca, Europe’s westernmost point and amazing viewpoint and then towards Cascais, a cosmopolitan maritime village and one of the wealthiest municipalities in Portugal,before riding back to your hotel in Sintra

Day 7: Bike tour in the Silver Coast Portugal: Transfer to Lisbon airport/hotel

Breakfast at the hotel. Go on a bike ride during the morning or enjoy the Sintra's city center. Check-out at the hotel. Transfer to Lisbon airport/hotel or stay an extra day at Sintra.
